After studying jazz and contemporary dance in my native Europe, I had my first taste of improvisation when I moved to Houston in 2000 and discovered Gabrielle Roth’s Five Rhythms. The freedom and emotional outlet I found in the weekly sessions were exhilarating, and I soon went on to apprentice under Pablo Bobbio in the Silent Language of the Body (El Lenguaje silencioso del cuerpo), a technique he brought from Argentina.
